MotoPhoto’s Inspiration

Although MotoPhoto can create one of you and your car or capture your favorite person/pet engaged in practically any activity or just being cute, the real impetus for MotoPhoto is my love of motorcycles. While traveling in the Pacific Northwest in 1983 I saw something that intrigued me and would later evolve into the MotoPhotos you now know. A small mall shop was taking enlarged pictures of kids and roughly cutting them out on foam board. The kids were cute, the pictures were bright and they looked great, but the only thing I could think of was - how much greater they would be if they were motorcycles (yes, I know I have a one track mind). Although they had an excellent idea, there were flaws in their execution. They were not durable, not protected from fingerprints or scratches, and the detailed cuts that would make the photo really achieve a 3-D look were not done.

Upon my return I could not get the idea of creating one similar to what I saw, but of something really interesting like my motorcycle, out of my head.

It has taken years to perfect the process and it is a minor miracle that I can still count ten fingers! I have invested in tools and fine tuned the process where each one-of-a-kind personalized free-standing collectible is individually crafted from ¼” durable quarter-inch thick acrylic plastic; protected by a clear UV inhibiting rich gloss finish that shrugs off dust, fingerprints and smudges; and is cut so the details of the finished product gives the greatest 3-D effect.

Over the years I have made them for friends and family who have upon seeing them for the first time, raved about how cool they were and suggested that I turn my hobby into a business. It is with great pleasure that I am now offering them to you, to give as a gift or as something special for yourself. Even though each MotoPhoto takes about 3-4 hours to complete, I have endeavored to keep the cost to you low so as many of you as possible can enjoy or give this unique gift.

I love creating each MotoPhoto and hope that you enjoy displaying yours as mush as I have enjoyed making it for you.
